Old Man Winter and Jack Frost

originally published on February 14, 2021

Well Old Man Winter and his younger (and much better looking) cousin Jack Frost have hit us hard here in Kansas. The cold has been absolutely bone-chilling, far more severe than anything I’ve ever experienced before. We’ve gotten snow a few times, and it’s pretty to look at, but that’s nothing compared to the vicious, life-threatening cold gripping this area and much of the United States. It is an ongoing threat and source of misery (but maybe also Grace!) I’m not complaining, just commenting. Indeed we can enjoy our cultural personifications even in the midst of this trial.

I guess the meteorologists have a theory as to why this is happening. I have my own theory, though. Someday I may share it. Meanwhile, bundle up well, don’t go anywhere unless it’s an absolute necessity, especially not on slick highways at too fast speeds, and pray to God that this cold nightmare ends soon.

Take care of yourself and your families.
